In dedication of

Bert Fafard

Founder and Producer of The Community Players

After dedicating a decade of performing theater at Marsh River Theater, Bert Fafard passed away at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Bangor.  He had moved into Brooks during 1987 in order to have the quiet he was looking for to continue writing a musical play that had once been slated for Broadway. After traveling for several years in his work of performing music, fine arts and history, Bert and his wife, Elizabeth, returned to their home in Brooks to stay.

Bert brought fame with him. His background included being a cellist for the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, hosting a talk and music show for WPTZ-TV in Plattsburg, New York, as well as working with other TV networks.  He was involved with major concerts on grand organ and piano, his family weekly radio show and lecturing on history, music and art.

Having produced major plays, as well as producing and directing three theater companies of his own, Bert was very familiar with theater groups. During the ten

years at Marsh River Theater, he successfully founded and produced The Community Players. During the time of naming the group, he wanted involvement from the community and to include the community in the group’s title. His commitment was to become a community of performers and crew working toward a common goal – community and spirit.

From teaching and lecturing at LaSalle University to Music Supervisor in several school systems, Bert brought knowledge and joy to many, including his audiences, who were fortunate enough to hear his music and see his plays and productions.

     Bert will be greatly missed.
