Pump Boys And Dinettes

Pump-boys-logo-w-drop-3x303

Musical

Show starts @ 7:30 PM

On Highway 57 somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna, stands a gas station. Across the blacktop is a roadside eatery called the "Double Cupp Diner". The four guys at the station have been known to do some auto repairs, but only when aided by quantities of time and beer. The Cupp sisters celebrate their home cooking with the same zeal they bring to being neighborly with the boys. This is a musical tribute to life by the roadside. Pump Boys And Dinettes was created by Jim Wann, Cass Morgan, Debra Monk, John Foley, John Hardwick and John Schimmel.

The first performance of Pump Boys and Dinettes was given in the summer of 1981 in New York at The Chelsea West Side Arts Theater. Just a few months later, due to its enormous success, the show was forced to move to a bigger and more suitable theater. In February 1982, after numerous productions in many Manhattan theaters, Pump Boys and Dinettes transferred to the Princess Theater on 48th Street for its Broadway premiere, whereupon it was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Musical and received four Drama Desk nominations, including best musical.
